Update for Mac VPN Client

The University of 'University Name' Information Technology Services and Support has released an update for the Cisco AnyConnect 4.9 download for Mac users. This upgrade aims to resolve issues with using Virtual Private Network (VPN) services on Macs running Big Sur, a new operating system that is not currently supported by IT Support Center.

A successful exploit could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected machine with SYSTEM privileges. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of resources loaded by the application at runtime. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted IPC message to the AnyConnect process.

The update is necessary because Big Sur is not compatible with the current version of the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client supported by UIT. To ensure continued service for Mac users, the upgrade will provide compatibility with the latest operating system.

To get started, allow your client to automatically update your software to the latest version. Once complete, you can use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client as normal. When launching the client on your Mac after the update, you will receive a notification that your client is being updated to the latest version.
